Disco giants KC & The Sunshine Band will headline the 2009 Rochester Music Fest, which morphs into a day-long r&b celebration taking place Saturday, July 18, at Brown Square Park off Verona Street. Other acts on the bill include 90's r&b group Tony Toni Tone, plus Freedom Williams & C&C Music Factory, KIM, Ms. Triniti, Silk, The Mambo Kings, and more.
On Friday, July 17, there will be a kick-off party featuring music by Morris Day & The Time, featured in the Prince film "Purple Rain."
MusicFest will run 1-10 p.m., with the kick-off party going 5-10 p.m. Both events are free. For more information visit the city's website.
I'm not sure if this is "tongue in cheek", but let's assume so (I'm referring to the "No Wave"...
