I went down to Water Street Music Hall last night to dig Friday in America. No, it wasn't a Supertramp tribute band, though that concern could be considered logical. My man Ben Rossi was on stage, and if his work with Jae Mood were any indication, this was going to be a band rolling in a genre I like to call (until I can come up with something catchier) wide-open jam.
The seven guys on stage made a huge sound; it grooved and bopped and alluded to its roots, never really landing on one for too long. The audience of about 100 hung on every note and there was dancing -- dancing. Hip-hop snuck in and it struck me as funny that often when a band tosses in a hip-hop tune or spice, the singer automatically starts playing air-turntable. This band made me proud. Between these guys, Subsoil, and The Buddhahood, we've got every style on earth covered in this town.
YOU GUYS RULE! Awesome show, Awesome time, I LOVE seeing you guys get props <3 Stay sexy!
Lovin' me some Prickers! :-)
