Wednesday night at The Club @ Water Street wasn't nearly as bad, since the majority of the St. Patrick's Day yahoos did their spewing-o'-the-green the previous weekend. Coming off a bad case of pneumonia, Kristen Maxfield belted a powerful set with her new back-up band, Troyka (with a little fleshing out from Filthy Funk and Mosaic Foundation). This ravenous redhead radiated red-hot with a smoothed-out set of soulful rock and blues. Every note Maxfield telegraphed -- we knew it was coming -- she nailed. She has an impressive register and isn't afraid to show it off, but her talent lies in her reserve. And the way she moves on stage...boy, oh boy. It makes me feel kinda funny, like when you climb the rope in gym class.
As Maxfield's band, Troyka showed its flexibility, adaptability, and skill. On its own the band pounded out a great set of extremely catchy and powerful pop-rock, like three outlaws of love at a party in white.
YOU GUYS RULE! Awesome show, Awesome time, I LOVE seeing you guys get props <3 Stay sexy!

What an amazing musical relationship between Toryka and Maxfield. They grooved, they moved, they spooned. Female leads tend to have big shoes to fill, but boy, oh boy...I'm in love.
