The Black Eyed Peas mastermind steps out on his own on "Songs About Girls," and for the most part, you get what you'd expect. It's a slickly produced affair, with a surprisingly small guest roster (the notable exception is Snoop Dogg on "The Donque Song"). As the title suggests, the songs deal with girls/women, from loving them (emotionally), to loving them (sexually), to appreciating their "assets." The rhymes certainly aren't anything new or groundbreaking, but each song has its own feel, and it's easy to get into the groove. He shows he is capable of producing a variety of different styles, and the disc mostly flows from one track to the next. He even takes a stab at global warming with the stern-finger-shaking closing track, "S.O.S. (Mother Nature)". A nice try, but after listening to you describe how you like your "Donques," Will, I'm not so sure that you should be the one to lecture me about our consumption of fossil fuels.
