The signature vocals of a woman scorned that made Alanis Morissette famous with her 1995 album "Jagged Little Pill" have had 13 years to simmer and grow in angry intensity. With several releases over the last decade, Morissette has hit her stride with her latest release, "Flavors of Entanglement." The album flip-flops between metal-esque songs such as "Citizen of the Planet" to overly electronic symphonic gems like "Straitjacket" that give her another platform to vent. But it's the song "Not As We" - a down-tempo number backed by just a piano - that lets Morissette showcase her impeccable ability to switch between falsetto and deep guttural bellow on a single lyric. This album is filled with painful undertones weaved into an hour of cathartic release.
