Roky Erickson and the Explosives "Halloween: Live 1979-1981"

These live recordings by psychedelic rock pioneer Roky Erickson capture this influential mental patient at his most demonically rockin'. Iniquitous songs from his solo debut, "The Evil One," provide an ominous backbone to this collection, which is more consistent, in sound and performance,
than most of the live Erickson floating around. Hot fodder for fans or newcomers, if the solid-black hits "Don't Shake Me Lucifer" and "Bloody Hammer" don't steal your soul, sweet succubi like "Starry Eyes" and "Wait For You" will claw out your heartstrings. Imagine if Buddy Holly and Danzig were taking a bunch of acid together and somehow cosmically merged into one being. Also brewing in this compact cauldron are classic nuggets like "You're Gonna Miss Me" (by Erickson's old band, The 13th Floor Elevators), and a one-off cover of The Beatles' "I've Just Seen A Face." Pretty rad, unless you're opposed to devil songs or something.
