ACOUSTIC: Tommy Emmanuel (5/7)
By Frank De Blase on May. 7th, 2008
When Aussie guitar-slinger Tommy Emmanuel plays, it sounds like he's chasing a centipede with tap shoes up and down the neck with polydactyl glee. I suspect this cat's sportin' extra digits. Even his more laid back, jazzy studies are full of nuances and frills, as if the guitar were a jungle gym. Emmanuel's
music runs acoustically from folk to jazz to, well, wild. Regardless the genre tackled, it's the playing that'll keep you glued. Initially inspired by the late, great Chet Atkins' finger style, Emmanuel went on to record with the master on the Grammy nominated "The Day The Finger Pickers Took Over The World." Emmanuel is utterly amazing.

If you missed this show, you missed the best concert of the year. If he ever comes within 100 miles of Rochester again, don't blow it.
