HIP HOP/R&B: Mary J. Blige w/ Jay-Z (5/1)
By Todd Rezsnyak on Apr. 30th, 2008
The "Heart of the City" tour brings together two of urban music's biggest names. Blige has just released her second critically acclaimed album in three years, so while her set will be heavy with new material, one can expect at least a handful of songs from her impressive (and large) catalog.
Jay-Z is no slouch, either. Coming of the critically well-received "American Gangster" album, Jay has more than enough hits of his own to give Blige a run for her money. With more than two decades' experience between them, expect this show to be big. Both artists are great stage performers, with Blige's over-the-top energy and Jay's slick rhymes sure to bring the crowd to its feet, time and time again.
