There are several pivotal races across Monroe County, including contests that could shift the balance of power in the County Legislature, but morning voter turnout was low.
This year, there were fewer early voters than in 2003, says WROC Channel 8, which based its report on 10 a.m. figures from the Board of Elections. Turnout was 5 percent in the city, 9 percent in the towns, and 8 percent county-wide, the station reports. In 2003, the last time there was a county-executive election, turnout was 9 percent in the city, 14 percent in the towns, and 12 percent countywide.
Turnout in 2005, the most recent Rochester mayoral race, was 9 percent in the city, 10 percent in the towns, and 10 percent county-wide, says Channel 8.
