The Monroe County Independence Party's executive committee has asked party chair Rafael Colon to resign and it is being reported that he will do so.

Last week, the Buffalo News broke a story that Congressional candidate Jack Davis paid Colon's wife, Blanca Colon, $5,000 to consult on his campaign.  That led the executive committee to ask for Rafael Colon's resignation, say media reports.

Davis also paid $5,000 to the wife of the Erie County Independence Party chair, according to the Buffalo News. The women were hired as consultants because they know the party politics and Davis wants to woo those voters, his spokesman has said in media reports.
