This week's calls to action include the following events and activities. (All are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted.)

Organic Obama

Rochester for Obama will present "Home-Grown," an evening of tasting organic domestic wines and light foods on Saturday, October 11, at Tasteology, 3400 Monroe Avenue, Pittsford from 7 to 10 p.m. Keynote address will be from Congressional candidate Eric Massa. Admission is $50. Information: www.rochesterforobama.com.

Sierra Club festival

The Sierra Club will hold its Fall Festival and fund-raiser on Saturday, October 11, at the Tay House Lodge at Cobbs Hill Park from 5 to 9 p.m. One family will share its Tanzanian trip, an eco-tenting safari. Happy Hour will be from 5 to 6 p.m. and dinner is at 6 p.m. Tickets: $10 per person and no more than $30 for a family. Reservations: 234-1056.

Water fight film

The Sierra Club will sponsor a showing of "The Water Front," a film about the local fight for water access, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, at the Little Theatre No. 3. The film will be followed by a discussion panel. Suggested donation: $7, but no one will be turned away.

Peace vigils

Faith community peace advocates will hold "Bring Them Home Vigils" on Tuesday, October 14, in front of the First Unitarian Church, 220 South Winton Road, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., and at the corners of Fitzhugh and Broad Streets from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. More vigils will be held on Wednesday, October 15, on the corners of Park Avenue and Culver Road from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., and at the Irondequoit United Church of Christ, 644 Titus Avenue, from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

Ren Square theater plans

The Main and Clinton Local Development Corporation (Ren Square) will hold a meeting at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, at the Watts Conference Center, 47 South Fitzhugh Street. Board members are expected to discuss the business operating plan for the theatre portion of the project.

Carbon-free neighborhoods

The Low Carbon Diet Challenge continues in Fairport and Perinton on Sunday, October 12, at the Perinton Community Center, 1350 Turk Hill Road, from 1 to 3 p.m. Information: www.rochesterlowcarbondiet.com. Registration: 234-1056.
