As of today, state money is available to start the demolition of Midtown Plaza.

During a press conference this afternoon, Governor David Paterson said the asbestos removal contracts will go out to bid, and that there is $30.8 million available for the work.

"We're back here today to make sure that Midtown succeeds," Paterson said.

The state has pledged $55 million to aid the city with Midtown's demolition, clearing the way for Paetec's new headquarters.
