Channel 10 is reporting on its website that Rochester City Council member John Lightfoot is in Monroe County Jail after allegedly violating the terms of his probation.
Lightfoot turned himself in this morning, the site says, and will be arraigned tomorrow in City Court.
City Council President Gladys Santiago issued the following statement on the Council's behalf:
"The members of Council are extremely concerned to learn that Councilman Lightfoot has allegedly violated the terms of his probation. At the moment, the specifics regarding this violation are not clear. However, we are acutely aware that his actions could have serious consequences. We are presently awaiting more detail concerning these allegations.”
“Once the details of the allegations have been provided, we will review the situation with our legal counsel and make further comment.”
Lightfoot pleaded guilty to DWI in 2007.
