Peace vigil

The Buddhist Peace Fellowship will hold a vigil on Monday, May 4, in front of the Federal Building, 100 State Street, at noon.

Growing up

The Rochester Committee on Latin America will present, "Growth Trickles Up," a talk by local activist Alison Clark about her recent trip to Haiti's border with the Dominican Republic on Wednesday, May 6, at Downtown Presbyterian Church, 121 North Fitzhugh Street, at 7 p.m.

Zero to green

The Rochester Networking Group will hold an "Easy to Go Green" meeting on Wednesday, May 6, at the Forest Park Retirement Community, 99 Forest Park in Victor, from 7 to 8:30 a.m.

Lincoln, Douglass, and the Flower City

The Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County are presenting "Partners in Freedom," in the Lower Link Gallery. The exhibit of photos and newspaper clippings show the lives of Abraham Lincoln and Fredrick Douglass and their connections to Rochester. The exhibit is on display at 115 South Avenue now through Sunday, May 31.

Save the cannoli, save the world

Small World Bakery will host "Earth First! Roadshow." Touring ecological activists will present a theatrical history of the organization and training for civil disobedience on Thursday, April 30, at 972 South Plymouth Avenue at 7 p.m.

Sustainable Lima

The Town of Lima will hold a Sustainability Fair on Saturday, May 2, at the Town Hall, 7329 East Main Street, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fair will include tours of a local "green house," talks on small-scale renewable energy options, and exhibits by vendors of green products and services.

Community shred

The Town of Irondequoit will hold a "Community Shred and Electronics Recycling Day" on Saturday, May 2, in the parking lot of Town Hall, 1280 Titus Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There is a $5 cash charge for the disposal of monitors and TV screens.

Metro Justice dinner

Metro Justice will hold its annual dinner on Sunday, May 3, at Temple B'rith Kodesh, 2131 Elmwood Avenue, at 6 p.m. Reservations: 325-2560; tickets: $25.

Young voices

The Mayor's Youth Advisory Council will hold a community forum on Tuesday, May 5, at East High School, 1801 East Main Street, at 6 p.m.

Group read

The Moving Beyond Racism Book Group will meet on Monday, May 4, to read and discuss "Ghetto Nation" by Cora Daniels, at Barnes and Noble, Pittsford Plaza, at 7 p.m.

Responsible investing

The Commission on Christian Muslim Relations and the Muslim-Catholic Alliance will present "Socially and Religiously Responsible Investing." This workshop is divided into three sessions beginning on Tuesday, May 5, at the Islamic Center of Rochester, 727 Westfall Road, at 6:30 p.m. Registration and information: 442-0117.

Downtown law school

The Monroe County Bar Association will host a forum on the prospect of a Rochester law school on Wednesday, May 6, at the MCBA's office, 1 West Main Street, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. The forum will be moderated by attorney and MCBA president T. Andrew Brown, and will feature guest speaker Donald Bain, president of St. John Fisher College.
