Vampires, those suave, charismatic staples of film and fiction, are also good for interesting bites of trivia, as it turns out. Although, technically, this morsel came from a telepathic waitress in love with a vampire, and not the Nosferatu themselves. | In an early episode of the HBO vampire drama series "True Blood," the lead character mentions that milk consumption in the US is higher than ever before, thanks to America's love affair with fancy coffee. | "It wouldn't surprise me if it is true," says Beth Meyer, director of communications for the American Dairy Association and Dairy Council. "If you go to Starbucks and get a latte, or [drink] the new McDonald's lattes, for example, those are about 80 percent milk." | Meyer did not have the data to back up the waitress' assertion. But if true, she says, it's good news. The adult daily requirement for calcium is about 1,200 milligrams - approximately three 8 oz. glasses - and most people don't come close to hitting that mark, Meyer says. | "I believe it's something like nine out of 10 women and seven out of 10 men are not getting that amount of calcium in their diet," she says.
