Green jobs

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County will host a green jobs forum on Thursday, June 25, at 249 Highland Avenue from 10 a.m. to noon. Training programs, job locations, and sectors of the economy with green job growth potential will be discussed. Limited seating; reservations: 461-1000, Ext. 10.

Bikes needed

R Community Bikes, a grassroots organization that collects and repairs used bikes to distribute free of charge to adults and children in need, will be collecting bicycles on Saturday, June 27, at the Bike Zone, 885 Long Pond Road, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on Saturday, July 18, at Penfield Fitness and Racket Club, 667 Panorama Trail West, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Information: www.rcommunitybikes.net.

Religions around the world

Nazareth College's Center for Interfaith Studies and Dialogue will hold "Training of the Trainers in Understanding World Religions," a five-day series of workshops for religious leaders, social workers, and other professionals who need to understand the faith and practices of other people. The workshops begin on Monday, June 29, and end on Friday, July 3. Most are at least half-day sessions. Tuition: $129; includes light suppers. Registration: 389-2963; limited seating.

No chemicals

Rochesterians Against the Misuse of Pesticides will hold its annual garden teach-in on Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There are multiple teach-in gardens that students can visit. Tickets: $10. Information on locations: 383-1317.

Furry friends

The Verona Street Animal Society will host "The Fast and the Furriest 10K Race and One Mile Dog Walk" to help raise funds for the shelter and adoption services on Saturday, June 27. Registration begins at 7 a.m.; the race begins at 8 a.m., and the dog walk begins at 8:15 a.m., at 184 Verona Street.

Latinas and higher ed

Latinas Unidas will present "Tackling Myths about Financial Aid and the Application Process for Higher Education," an information session, on Friday, June 26, at Tri-Mar Consulting, 16 West Main Street, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Cost: free for LU members; $10 for nonmembers.

Health-care reform

Metro Justice will organize a bus trip to Washington, D.C., "Get on the Bus for Real Health Care Reform," on Thursday, June 25.
