The Great Outdoors will be the venue for some of the performances occurring during the American Association of Community Theatre Festival, which will take place in Rochester in 2011. | The eight-day festival, scheduled to take place June 19-26, will feature short "bench plays" - performances lasting about five minutes each - on the street from the Radisson on State Street to the festival's main venue, Geva Theatre. | "That'll be something we've never done before," says festival planning chair Michael Arve. "And we're hoping to have some events in the park across the street from Geva." | The festival is the premier community theater event in the country, Arve says. | AACTFest provides a forum for community theater groups to enter productions for evaluation by an adjudication committee. All of the performances will be open to the public, as well as other events, including workshops and a banquet. | City Council will vote on legislation next month to give $10,000 to AACTFest. Arve says that some of the funding would provide scholarships for city school students to participate in the festival. | Approximately 600 to 800 people usually attend AACTFest, Arve says, which takes place every two years in cities across the country.
