As early as next month, members of City Council will consider legislation to install red-light traffic cameras at city intersections.

Camera placement would be determined by traffic volume and accident rates. Only licenses plates would be recorded, as New York State law prohibits the cameras from photographing drivers.

All potential violations would be reviewed by the Rochester Police Department before citations are issued.
