Health-care forum
The Progressive Democrats of Genesee Valley will present the "Health Justice Forum: How to Resolve the Disparities and Inequities of the Current Health Care Paradigm," AT 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, at the Dryden Theatre, George Eastman House, 900 East Avenue. The event features Rep. Eric Massa; Donna Smith, of the California Nurses Association; Jeff Cohen, Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting; and Dr. Emily Queenan, Physicians for a National Health Program.
Urban design and you
The Rochester Regional Community Design Center will present "Diversity and the Power of Place," a lecture by Emily Talen, professor at the School of Geo Science and Urban Planning at Arizona State University, at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 16, at the Dryden Theatre, George Eastman House, 900 East Avenue. Rally against School of the Americas
School of the Americas Watch Rochester will hold a vigil at 4 p.m. on Monday, November 16, in front of the Federal Building, 100 State Street. Activists are asking lawmakers to suspend US taxpayer funding of the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation-School of the Americas. Organizers say the money funds terrorism.
Labor's take on health care
The Rochester Labor Council and the AFL-CIO will present "Just Health Care?" a discussion of the neglected aspects of the health-care issue and the obstacles blocking ideal health-care policy at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, at NYSUT Hall, 30 North Union Street.
Clean water for Haiti
RIT, SUNY Geneseo, and Haiti Outreach Pwoje Espwa will hold a public forum, "Innovation in Portable Water Systems," at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, at RIT's Center for Student Innovation and Creativity.
Peace vigils
The First Unitarian Church of Rochester's Peace Advocates Task Force will hold "Bring Them Home Vigils" from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 18, on the corners of Park Avenue and Culver Road.
