Lead law discussion

The New York State Coalition of Property Owners and Businesses will hold a discussion on a new federal lead law - the RRP Rule - at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, at the Wishing Well Party House, 1190 Chili Avenue. The new ruling will apply to all landlords and housing providers. The meeting is free to members and costs $15 for non-members.

Suicide prevention conference

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will sponsor a nationwide web conference, followed by a local program for people whose lives have been touched by suicide, on Saturday, November 21. There are two Rochester-area web-conference locations: the University of Rochester and Crosswinds Wesleyan Church in Canandaigua. Roots harvest dinner

Rochester Roots, an urban school and community-garden education group, will hold its annual Harvest Dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 20, at the Downtown Presbyterian Church, 121 North Fitzhugh Street. Samina Raja, associate professor at the University of Buffalo, will discuss "Planning and Design for Community Living." Reservations and donations: 232-1463.

Ending child slavery

Vineyard Church of Irondequoit is sponsoring "End Slavery Now," an event to benefit Love146, a leader in the fight to end child exploitation and slavery, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, at 2150 Portland Avenue.

19th Ward annual convention

The 19th Ward Community Association will hold its annual convention, an evening of entertainment and neighborhood business, on Saturday, November 21, at the Staybridge Suites Hotel, Brooks Landing, 1000 Genesee Street. The social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. Meeting begins at 6:30 pm.

Momma drama

The MuCCC Theater will present Frank La Frazia's one-man show, "Living with It," which is about his experience as a teenager living with a mother who suffered from bi-polar disorder. The show is at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 20, and Saturday, November 21; and 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 22. Tickets range from $5 to $15. Reservations: (413) 664-9616.

Talking with Superintendent Brizard

The Activists Against Racism Movement will hold a "Fireside Chat With Superintendent Jean-Claude Brizard" regarding issues in the Rochester City School District at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, at Rochester Freedom School, 630 North Goodman Street.

Health-care seminar

The Simon Graduate School of Business will present "Consequences of Health Care Reform," a half-day seminar featuring a talk by health-care economist Gerard Wedig on Wednesday, November 18, from 8 to 11:45 a.m. Fee: $125; $95 for alumni. Registration: 275-3439.
