Mayor Bob Duffy is postponing the first two public forums on mayoral control and may postpone the remaining two.
The forums were scheduled for February 2, 4, 9, and 10.
"We scheduled these meetings with the idea that we would have a program bill from the governor's office by the end of this month," Duffy wrote in a statement issued this afternoon.
The bill is not yet finished, he says, and there is no firm date for its completion.
The forums will be rescheduled, Duffy says.

Let me get this straight... the mayor only wants to talk to his constituents to tell us how he intends to do a thing that his constituents haven't even had an opportunity to tell him WHETHER they want him to do or not? He passed by at least one opportunity to debate the WHETHER question at SOTA and chose to stay holed up with the media in his office while the public told City Council what they wanted to tell him.
If his engagement with the full range of his constituency is any sign, then parent engagement is headed straight for the toilet just like in NYC under Bloomberg.

"Seek first to understand... then to be understood..." The community voice is essential, parent input is crucial, and the youth perspective cannot be denied. It is wrong and unethical to prescribe medication without speaking to the patient.... I would prefer that the Mayor include OUR input in his plan before submitting it to the legislature, it appears that he will speak to us only after he has determined what is best for our children. This approach is disrespecful and will further alienate the people that, in the end, will be affected the most.
