House Democratic leaders have released their bill, which outlines the tweaks they'd like to make to the Senate-approved health-care reform legislation.
The bill is 153 pages long and not what could be considered a light read. But it makes some important changes from the Senate version. The payoff to Nevada Senator Ben Nelson, a.k.a. the Cornhusker Kickback, is gone. In its place, says a Politico blog, is a commitment to cover all of the increased Medicaid costs facing states through 2016. The bill also includes greater tax credits for individuals and families who buy their own insurance, Politico reports.
The NY Times reports that the tax on high-cost plans has been reduced and implementation delayed.
In a statement released this afternoon, House Democratic Majority Leader Steny Hoyer says a vote could come as soon as Sunday.

What has become of our once great nation that had set forth in it's constitution the proper process to submit and pass bills? Senator Byrd offered the Byrd reconciliation some 20 years ago which was for non-budgetary bills. This Byrd bill allows for 51 senators - a simple majority- to pass the Senate bill. The usual is that the Senate has to have 60 votes of the 100 to pass the bill. Obama and Pelosi and Reid wanted to use this to pass the Senate bill because Scott Brown was elected and now their (democratic) majority is cut to 59, so they cant do the real way to pass a bill the 60 vote way. So wait let's use the byrd method that will work right? Unfortunately Byrd himself said his reconciliation ammendment was NOT DESIGNED TO PASS HEALTH CARE LEGISLATION - this stated when Then Pres CLinton wanted his bill to pass. SO it was thwarted. Now the HOuse needs to vote of the Senate bill but most do not agree with their version and so the Dems cam up with the Slaughter plan...just pass a resolution to pass the bill....oh, no one has to say that they actually voted for it...DOES NOT ONE GROUP ANYWHERE TAKE OFFENSE TO THIS CORRUPT THUGGERY? I will twist a proverbial sentence uttered by our lovely and insightful first lady. I have never been more dissatisfied in my country in all my life. If this gets past, we US citizens need to find a willing state to susceed from the Nation! It is time to leave this sinking ship and get in another one to build the shining castle on the hill - the America we have loved and desire for future generations.
