A group of US Senators, including New York's Kirsten Gillibrand, has introduced legislation that would repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell.
The repeal bill, introduced today, is called the Military Readiness Enhancement Act of 2010. It has a slew of co-sponsors; including Joe Lieberman and Arlen Specter but no Republicans.
The bill would eliminate the law that prohibits gays from openly serving in the military, while also outlawing discrimination of recruits and servicemen and -women on the basis of sexual orientation. It also would allow students to join ROTC even if their school prevents the formation of a chapter on campus.
