The Monroe County Board of Elections is still looking over Van White's petitions and will not rule on their legitimacy until sometime next week, possibly Wednesday, says Tom Ferrarese, Democratic commissioner of the Board of Elections. He would not comment further.
Van White, an attorney and member of the city school board, wants to primary Democratic Assembly member David Gantt in the 133rd District, but his petitions have been challenged. A big issue is whether White's primary residence is in the 133rd or the 131st district. White's petitions have been challenged by Ruth Brooks Ward and Joan Beale.
Ferrarese says that the board may rule on the legitimacy of Harry Davis's petitions sometime today. Davis is looking to replace Susan John as representative of the 131st Assembly District. John is not seeking re-election.
