It will be a few more days before the Monroe County Board of Elections can say whether local attorney and city school board member Van White can run in a primary in the 133rd Assembly District.
The board is currently considering the challenges filed against White's petitions by Ruth Brooks Ward and Joan Beale. A big issue is whether White's primary residence is in the 133rd Assembly District or 131st Assembly District.
Ward and Beale also question the legitimacy of some of the signatures. White counters that he took great pains to verify signers's names and addresses.
"I'm not disappointed or disheartened," by the challenges White says, adding that he looks forward to the residency issue being decided in court.
White is trying to take on long-time State Assembly member David Gantt.
