It's been a hot summer for homicides and violent crime in Rochester. | If you've ever wanted information about the crime occurring in your neighborhood or anywhere in the city, apparently you're not alone. | The website www.Spotcrime.com provides a map of the city's crime activity. Little pop-up icons for everything from arrests to vandalisms pepper the map. The icons serve as guides for the type of crime committed. For instance, yellow fists show where assaults have occurred, and ominous dark figures holding bags show where robberies have occurred. Red targets indicate shootings. | Point and click on an icon and you'll get a sentence or two on the what, when, and where. For example: if you click on a red target icon near the Browncroft neighborhood, the following message comes up: "7/30/2010, Winton Road and Blossom Road, a woman trying to stop a robbery was shot at in the parking lot." | The map shows activity for the last two months and you can custom design your criminal activity search for Rochester and most US cities.
