The wild ‘60's

The International Socialist Review will host "1968, a Year in Revolt," a discussion marking the 40th anniversary of the 1968 Democratic National Convention protests, on Thursday, May 8. Bill Roberts, who was a medic at the convention, will talk about his experience and activism. RIT, Fireside Lounge in the Student Alumni Union, at 7:30 p.m.

Diversity made easy

The Baobab Cultural Center will present "Cultural Diversity in the Workplace and School - What's So Complicated?" on Saturday, May 10. Former RIT President Al Simone and the city's HR director, Donna Thomas, are speakers. 728 University Avenue, at 3:30 p.m.

Teens on Rochester's future

Raising 10,000 Voices, a national youth program, will show mini documentaries produced by area teens on issues that they will face in the Rochester community as adults, on Friday, May 9, at the Wilson Foundation Academy, 200 Genesee Street, at 6 p.m. The event is free, but seating is limited. Oil's last drop

The faith group Living in Harmony will show the documentary "Crude Awakening" on Tuesday, May 13. The film debunks the theory that oil production can be increased. It will be shown at Henrietta Church of Christ, 1400 Lehigh Station Road, at 7 p.m.

Mending the lakes

The League of Women's Voters will present "The Great Lakes, Pollution, and its Sources," a discussion that focuses on Lake Ontario, on Thursday, May 8, at the First Unitarian Church of Rochester, 220 South Winton Road, at 7 p.m.

March to Fort Drum

Anti-war groups have organized a "March for Peace" to Fort Drum from communities across the state beginning on Thursday, May 8, reaching Fort Drum on Saturday, May 17. Protestors will depart Rochester on Saturday, May 8, from the Anti-War Store Front at 658 Monroe Avenue, at 9 a.m. Also, Rochester Against War and Peace, Action and Education have organized a bus trip for those who want to participate, but need transportation. The bus leaves the Anti-War Storefront on Saturday, May 17 and costs $20 roundtrip per person.
