Moving Beyond Racism will hold a book discussion on Gregory Howard Williams's "Life On The Color Line: The True Story Of A White Boy Who Discovered He Was Black," on Monday, July 7, at Barnes & Noble, Pittsford Plaza, at 7 p.m.

Protesting 101

The Genesee Valley Chapter of the New York Civil Liberties Union will hold "Know Your Rights!" a training workshop for activists and citizens, on the First Amendment, what to do if approached by police, lawful protesting, and what to do if you get arrested. The session is on Tuesday, July 8, at the Antiwar Crisis Center, 658 Monroe Avenue, at 7 p.m.

Student achievement

The Rochester City School District is seeking public input into its Contract for Excellence for the 2008-2009 school year on Monday, July 7, at 167 Flanders Street, at 6 p.m.

Help for dropouts

Gateway to College at MCC will hold an information session at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, at the Damon City Campus, for students who have dropped out of high school but want a second chance to earn their diplomas and receive college credits. Applications and information: 262-1480.

In the Zone

The Rochester Children's Zone will hold a parent support meeting on Monday, July 7, and a youth support meeting on Tuesday, July 8. Both meetings are at 5:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Branch Library, 851 Joseph Avenue (at Avenue D).

Revolt

Citizens United for County Change will hold a public rally to protest the actions of the Monroe County Legislature and MCC board of trustees on Tuesday, July 8, at the Monroe County Office Building, 39 West Main Street, at 4:30 p.m.
