Commercial wind turbines are legal in Hamlin, now that the town board has approved regulations for them. Except for a change that toughened the noise restrictions, the laws are unaltered from a public hearing held earlier this month, says Supervisor Dennis Roach. Four members of the board approved the regulations Thursday night by a unanimous vote. Town Board member Paul Rath abstained, since he has a lease agreement with Iberdrola, which is considering wind-tower development in Hamlin. At present, no companies have officially applied to build towers in the town.
