The three new Renaissance Square façade concepts are out. And now it's time for planners to pick one.
On June 12, the public will have a chance to see the final proposal. On June 17, that concept will be presented to the Main and Clinton Development Corporation board for approval.
Project planners designed the facades around a layout concept chosen based on public input and other criteria, including construction costs and synergy. The theater portion of the project will be located at Main and Clinton, with the MCC campus concentrated on the other side of the site. The transit center concourse runs between the two.
All of the proposals have glass-enclosed entrances at Main and Clinton, though they vary between rounded and angular designs. Each also has a distinct exterior appearance, though all try to mimic the rhythm of buildings on Main Street, breaking the façade up into 20- to 22-foot sections, says Jim Durfee, a leading architect on the project.
