Governor David Paterson today appointed Howard Konar to the MCC board of trustees. He replaces Mike Nuccitelli, whose term expired Monday. Konar is chair of the Monroe Community College Foundation, the fund-raising arm of the college, and is president of Konar Properties.
"Howard Konar has a deep understanding of Monroe Community College," said Richard Guon, chair of MCC's board of trustees. "His understanding and commitment, coupled with his community connections, make him a strong addition to the board. I look forward to working with him.
Konar's appointment was praised by Rochester Mayor Bob Duffy and Joe Morelle, county Democratic Party chair, in a press release from the governor's office today.
Konar's appointment is effective immediately. His term runs through June 30, 2015.
The board is still one member short. The Monroe County Legislature is expected to appoint a replacement for Lori Van Dusen this month. Van Dusen resigned in June.
