Metromix, a joint venture between Gannett and Tribune Co., has launched in Rochester. The web-only guide to local restaurants, bars, clubs, events, concerts, and movies has been plugged heavily in the Insider. Todd Clausen, who has been a copy editor-designer at the Insider, is listed as "producer" on the Metromix-Rochester website. | Metromix operates in almost two-dozen cities nationwide, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Detroit. | Word is that Metromix could be in more than 40 markets by the end of the year. | Meanwhile, the Insider's staff seems to be vanishing before our eyes. Editor Mike Johansson's name no longer appears on the masthead and there have been fewer Insiders to meet lately in the "Meet the Insiders" page of Gannett's free, youth-oriented weekly. (Every week Insider staff respond to a deep, probing question like, "What's your favorite line of clothing?") | Metromix and the Insider appear to target the same demographic. | How local will Metromix-Rochester be? The same FAQ is featured on several Metromix sites. For a short time, the Rochester FAQ asked if Des Moines was the only city "cool enough" for Metromix. Next order of business: hire proofreaders.

Nice article! Good to see City jockin' insider once again. Exactly the stuff people want to read. An inferior, weak publication for senior citizens and has-beens whining about the competition. Just want to make sure City Newspaper is factually accurate though: "What's your favorite line of clothing?" - I believe it was "What's your favorite ITEM of clothing?" You might want to tell your news editor to get her own proof reader!

Insider? Does anyone actually read Insider?? It has even less vlaue then its parent D&C. It's so irrelevent it doesn't even merit mention.

I'm no fan of Insider, but come on. Kind of petty, City, don't you think? The sophomoric swipe at proofreading takes emphasis off your point, which appeared valid at the beginning, anyway.

Funny that right next to this article is a list of mistakes you made in your last edition.
