Monroe County may take a look at a "condensed" work week.
A referral requesting that the county administration research the benefits of an altered work week is set to go before the Legislature's Ways and Means committee on Wednesday night. The referral was submitted by Republican Legislator Tony LaFountain and Democratic Legislator Jose Cruz.
The referral proposes no exact work week configuration, though it cites the four-day work weeks - often four 10-hour days instead of five eight-hour days - offered through programs by other municipalities, such as Suffolk County.
Any change would not apply to public safety workers.
The referral says the change could save the county and employees money by decreasing energy use.
