The so-called Millionaire's Amendment of federal election law is no more, thanks to the Supreme Court.

Democratic Congressional Candidate Jack Davis challenged the regulation, which let opponents of self-funding candidates accept larger amounts of money from individual donors. Now, the ceiling will remain at $2,300 from a donor in an election.

In its 5-4 decision, the court sided with Davis. The decision will have a direct effect on Davis's candidacy this year. He plans to primary Democrat Jon Powers, and the winner of that election will face Republican Christopher Lee.
