MOULE: Wavering wonks

By Jeremy Moule on October 29, 2008

In the chaos of the final week of campaigning, momentum is shifting in some of the area's Congressional races. So say the politically obsessed pros that follow the stuff.

We're talking about rankings here - how various nonpartisan political websites think the specific races are going to go.

Case in point: the Cook Political Report this week changed the 26th Congressional District contest from a Republican-leaning toss up to just plain "Toss Up," says the Kryzan campaign. In that district, Republican Chris Lee and Democrat Alice Kryzan seek the seat held by Republican Tom Reynolds, who is retiring.

Over at CQ Politics, the Eric Massa-Randy Kuhl race recently shifted from "Leans Republican" to "No Clear Favorite."

These are high-profile races that have caught the attention of the media - local and national in the case of Kuhl-Massa - and the public. They are also the two most intense Congressional races in the area - anyone who's watched any amount of evening television in the past month can attest to that.
