MOULE: Dems roll out Lej candidates

By Jeremy Moule on July 15, 2009

County Democrats have just announced their official slate for the Legislature and gave a glimpse into what they'll campaign on.

During a press conference on the County Office Building steps, Dems invoked the politicized selections of the public defender and Monroe Community College president, the divisive FAIR plan, and the scandal at the Water Authority.

The problem, says Democratic Minority Leader Harry Bronson, is the "rubber-stamp Republican majority," which doesn't serve as a check against the county administration.

If this sounds familiar, it's because it is. They ran on this stuff in 2007. But this time around they're adding Robutrad to the mix.

"You have to ask if someone isn't being protected," said Nora Bredes, whose running for the 18th District seat against Republican Ciaran Hanna.

The full list of the county party-endorsed candidates is below (though at least two primary challenges may be in the making; more on that another time):

Sheldon Meyers, 2nd District; Michele Weaver, 3rd District; Frank Muscato, 4th District; Mark Coon, 7th District; Mike Condello, 13th District; Travis Heider, 14th District; Nora Bredes, 18th District; Jo Meleca-Voigt, 19th District; Jerri Kaiser, 20th District; Carrie Andrews, 21st District; Paul Haney, 23rd District; Harry Bronson, 24th District; Calvin Lee, 25th District; Cindy Kaleh, 28th District; Saul Maneiro, 29th District.
