Webster's proposal for RBTL's new theater took a tack that others haven't: Town officials want the theater organization to consider reusing an old office and storage building.
Specifically, they're talking about building on a 20-acre site at 800 Salt Road, just north of the Route 104 expressway. The site has good access and parking, says Supervisor Ron Nesbitt. Webster has also been the fastest growing town in the county for a decade.
The access comes via Route 104, as well as Empire Boulevard, both of which intersect Salt Road. Town officials say the site will accommodate close to 1,500 parking spaces. They also highlighted the several hotels and 70 restaurants and cafes - everything from fast food to a gourmet steak house - in the town and village.
There's also no residential development around the property, so loading and unloading activities wouldn't be disruptive, the presenters said. It's also appropriately zoned for theater use, they said.
Lacking was on-site amenities. In the Costello and Canal Ponds plans, each developer talked about the possibility of building a hotel, shopping, or dining, practically next door to the theater site.
The final scheduled site presentation is Monday, November 16, when Medley Centre's developer makes its pitch.
