It's breath-holding time. Major media are reporting that Democrats plan to vote on a health-care bill next week.
The Times report says that House Democrats plan to pass the bill already passed by the Senate. That way the Senate wouldn't have to vote on a new bill, Republicans wouldn't have a chance to kill it with a filibuster, and the president could sign it.
Then, according to the Times, the House would vote on a budget bill that would include some changes to the Senate bill and would send it to the Senate for passage. Because it would be a budget bill, it, too, would deny the Republicans a chance to filibuster it, since it wouldn't require a 60-vote supermajority passage to avoid a filibuster.
