[4:56 p.m.] In just a few minutes Eric Massa is set to appear on Glenn Beck's Fox News program. Massa's been the subject of a growing scandal involving sexual harassment allegations filed by aides. During his radio program Sunday, he said Democratic leaders used those allegations to push him out of office.
[5:02 p.m.] Beck just came on and said that for "the next 60 minutes, I have no idea what's going to happen." And that he has other guests in the "on-deck circle," just in case something happens. Apparently he rarely has guests on the show, so he says.
[5:05] Beck acknowledges that he and Massa are on opposite sides of the ideological spectrum; he calls Massa a "giant progressive." He also says he doesn't know about Massa's credibility.
So Beck's at his little blackboard asking viewers to consider whether Massa adds any new charges, whether they believe what Massa's saying, and do they believe what Massa says about himself.
[5:06 p.m. ] Massa: "I wasn't forced out. I forced myself out." He also notes that new allegations that he groped aides came out just ahead of this interview. He says that during a birthday party he tickled a guy and others piled on.
"I own this misbehavior," he says.
[5:15 p.m.]Both guys say they have friends who think they're "the devil." Beck for having Massa on the show, Massa for going on Beck's show.
[5:15 p.m.] Beck wants to know why Massa came on the show. Massa says he wanted the toughest interview possible.
[5:20 p.m.] Massa again says that nobody told him about the Ethics committee investigation. They're supposed to stay secret, he says, and yet information about his leaked out.
[5:25 p.m.] Massa says he decided not to run again because of the cancer scare. Then when the allegations blew up he decided to "hold myself accountable."
"I want to do this interview and one more, then go away," Massa just said.
[5:30 p.m.] Beck's fishing around for Massa's story and for a reason why he came on the show.
Massa's saying that system's broken. And that as a freshman you have to spend five to seven hours a day on the phone trying to get money to run. Some of what he's saying lines up with his remarks during his now-infamous radio broadcast on Sunday.
[5:30 p.m.] The headline on the screen says "Former Rep. Massa: Chamber of Commerce, Unions bribed me." Massa just finished telling Beck that union officials called him and said that if he didn't support the health care bill, they wouldn't contribute to his election campaign. He made a similar claim during his radio address Sunday.
[5:36 p.m.] It's a commercial break right now, but so far there's not a lot new here. Beck's sort of introducing Massa's claims to his audience.
[5:37 p.m.] Beck just pressed Massa on how to change Washington. Massa responded by saying people should pressure Congress to change the campaign finance system. That apparently wasn't enough for Beck. He says he wants dirt on corrupt unions or something. Massa's now pinning it all on special interests in general and the leaders of both parties.
Beck's shrugging it off and saying there's nothing new to his charges. "I've heard generalities," Beck says. Now he's taking a break and when they come back he wants to know about Rahm Emanuel.
[5:46 p.m.] Beck wants to know if Massa has anything specific that points to corruption. Massa starts talking about "whipping," the process where party caucuses line up votes.
[5:50 p.m.] Another take on this interview is available over at Salon.com.
[5:55 p.m.] Beck just looked into the camera: "I've just wasted your time." He accused Massa of backtracking. So apparently he didn't get the interview he's looking for.
And it's over.

Glenn,
I am a conservative and watch your show almost every day, but today you were
rude, disrespectful, and interrupted your guest repeatedly. I had to turn it off.
You may have lost me.

My husband and I just saw/heard your "interview" with Massa. The first mistake made in this interview was that you, Beck, had your mind made up and were unwilling to understand or even really listen to what this man had to say. It was very obvious that you do not understand what it means to work inside the government and what the guidelines are. You appear to believe that working for the government gives you the same rights as working for Fox News. Check into that. You say that if you are wrong you will acknowledge it. I challenge you to put your money where your mouth is.
