Cool event alert!

The Rochester Contemporary Art Center will hold a street art bike tour at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 15. The tour begins and ends at the center, 137 East Avenue, and will go on rain or shine.

Four stops are included on the tour: the legal graffiti walls in Anderson Alley, St. Joseph's Neighborhood Center, the Broad Street aqueduct, and the B Boys BBQ on Clinton Avenue. The barbecue is hosted by FUA-Krew, a well-known Rochester graffiti outfit responsible for the large murals on North Clinton. FUA considers North Clinton its own urban art gallery.

"It's the epicenter of the graffiti culture in Rochester," says RCAC Executive Director Bleu Cease.

A FUA mural was used in RCAC's State of the City show last year.

The street art trip is one of an ongoing series of bicycle tours that supplement the center's State of the City exhibitions, which run from August 6 to September 19 this year. State of the City is a group exhibition that "engages artists, creative professionals and the public in considering the history and envisioning the future of upstate cities," according to RCAC's website.

RCAC Executive Director Blue Cease says the purpose of the street art tour is to encourage people to interact with the city, "putting bodies on the street" and to explore Rochester's complicated relationship with graffiti.

Suggested donation for the bike tour is $1.
