Yesterday was deadline day for major party candidates to submit their petitions. A few are still outstanding and will be valid as long as they're postmarked by yesterday's date.

A comprehensive rundown of who's running for what isn't yet available from the Board of Elections. It is clear, however, that there will be primaries. A word of caution: none of the petitions have been validated, so there's a chance some candidates could be knocked off of the ballot.

• This morning the Democrat and Chronicle reported that there could be a four-way primary for the 131st State Assembly District; that's Democrat Susan John's seat, but she's not seeking re-election. The endorsed Democratic candidate, Harry Bronson, filed his petitions. City school board members Willa Powell and Malik Evans filed to run for the seat, as did local activist Harry Davis.
• Democratic city school board member Van White is expected to challenge incumbent Democrat David Gantt for the 133rd Assembly seat. White was planning to mail his petitions in, reports the D&C.
• In the 25th Congressional District, Democratic incumbent Dan Maffei and his Republican challenger Ann Marie Buerkle both filed petitions to run on the Independence line, says a report compiled by the State Board of Elections.
• Republican Tom Reed, the GOP-endorsed candidate for the empty 29th Congressional District seat, is being primaried by Janice Volk, says the State Board of Elections list. The winner of that race will face Democrat Matt Zeller.
