UPDATE: 4:30 p.m.
You can stop lighting candles and saying novenas, the South Wedge wedge -- a giant cheese sculpture, has been found. The sculpture went missing after Friday, July 9.(see the story below)
"It's a happy ending for the Wedge," says Chris Jones, chair of the Business Association of the South Wedge Area.
A man apparently found the sculpture in the middle of the street, Jones says, and brought it home to Irondequoit. He will return it to BASWA tomorrow.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Just look for the statue of the giant cracker, and surely it can't be far. (Thanks, Eric.)
The South Wedge is missing its wedge. The sculpture of the giant cheese wedge has gone missing from the South Wedge. It had been located at the corner of Averill and South Avenue for more than a year.
"We need to find the rat who took it," says Chris Jones, chair of the Business Association of the South Wedge Area.
The sculpture, which was last seen on Friday, July 9, was commissioned by BASWA and created by artist John K. Archer.
The sculpture had been bolted to the ground, but someone knocked it off its bolts, Jones said, over the July 4 weekend. Before BASWA could re-bolt it, the sculpture was stolen.
A reward is offered for information leading to the wedge's return to the Wedge. Call Chris Jones at 305-4354 if you know the whereabouts of the wedge.
