In The Nation: "Targeting Tehran," Michael Klare's review of the Bush ramp-up, rhetorical and physical, over Iran. Among the latter:

"The deployment of a second aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf region, along with an accompanying array of cruisers, destroyers and submarines. AdvertisementSeveral additional US and British naval minesweepers are also being sent to the Gulf -- a clear indication that senior commanders anticipate Iranian efforts to block vital oil routes in response to any US airstrikes."

And "The decision to replace the outgoing head of the US Central Command -- which oversees US forces in Iraq, Afghanistan and the surrounding region -- with a Navy officer, Adm. William Fallon. It makes no sense to put Fallon, a former carrier group commander, in charge unless the next phase of combat in the region will emphasize air and naval operations against Iran."

Klare urges Congressional hearings and sets out the questions that should be asked.

OK, I'm enjoying reading your blog posts along with all the other blogs on City. Nice to see you guys finally catching up to this technology. However, I must say, you need to talk to your web designers about two things:

1. You're blog RSS feeds don't work. The ones from the main sections do, but not the blog. You get a basic channel output, but no articles

2. You desperately need to look into using Askimet or some other spam blocker like Bad Behavior (or possibly both) to cut down on the porn spam in your comments. Your front page is covered with stuff I'll spare you in my comments!

Any questions, just email me. I'm an old blogging pro. . . .

DragonFlyEye,

Just noticed the issue with the Blog RSS feeds. Thanks for pointing it out, we'll get it fixed ASAP.

Also, the spam issue is something we are aware of and Akismet integration probably needs to happen sooner than later.

If you run into anything else, feel free to send an email to themail@rochester-citynews.com so we don't get off topic in this blog post.
