Does John McCain really believe this stuff? Or is he saying it for, um, political reasons?
Once upon a time, McCain was somebody you respected, whether or not you agreed with his stand on particular issues. But now he's off on a tangent. Barack Obama, says McCain, would rather have us lose the war in Iraq (whatever that means) than lose the presidential election. Obama supports troop withdrawal only for political reasons, says McCain.
You can picture Dick Cheney saying that. You can picture Bob Dole saying it. But John McCain?
Well, he's said it. And if he means it, he's slipped a gear. If he doesn't, I wonder what he meant earlier when he pledged to conduct a clean, civilized campaign.
Increasingly, McCain is coming across as an angry, surly man. Appeals to fear and patriotism: that, apparently, is what we're in for from now till November. We deserve much better than that. And I had thought that John McCain was much better than that.
While it may be simplistic to suggest that the problem at East High is the result of the fact...
Before Hillary Clinton can become Secretary of State, the Obama administration will certainly...
Paterson won't do it. Downstate has too much power and influence and too many Dems so they will...
Schumer is a hypocrite. If deficit spending is wrong when Republicans do it, then it's wrong...
I'd like to see more discussion (rationally only) regarding the idea that "gay is a lifestyle"....
