With the start of a new year and a new presidency, it is time for us to put our differences behind us and come together as one nation. To help foster that end, I propose that those of us who voted for Bush-Cheney in 2000 take some responsibility for their actions (as the leaders they voted for have insistently refused to do) and undertake 500 hours of community service to help repair some of the widespread damage to America inflicted by the current Republican administration.
Those who decided to grant the same foolish, destructive pair four more years in 2004 ought to commit to more; I propose 1,000 hours. Given the complete disregard for privacy in Bush's America, we ought not to have any trouble identifying those responsible for these ghastly eight years.
