When Obama announced on January 20 that there would now be no action in the US Senate on health-care reform until the new Republican Senator from Massachusetts was sworn in, I was betrayed.
Obama promised that the final bill would be on his desk and signed before his State of the Union speech on January 27. Until the Republican is sworn in, Obama still had 58 Democrats and 2 Independents to vote for it. But Obama chose to say no to the very last chance for health-care reform during his tenure. He's a boy scout, a wimp, a politician who broken his promise to deliver what is still within his grasp - or, to put it in plain English, he is a liar.
First, the deadline was last summer. Then it was Thanksgiving, then Christmas, finally the State of the Union. In fact, Obama never did have a health-care reform plan (the only issue on which I thought Hillary was better than him). Now all is clear: believe not what they say but what they do - he's been a phony all along.
A sucker is born every minute, and I was "A Sucker for Obama." Never again!

Well I guess there's a big difference between campaign promises on the one hand and transparency and bipartisanship on the other. In this case you can't have both.
Fortunately for me, my sense of betrayal began to subside with the Massachusetts election.

I actually felt that ramming the health care reform through while he could would have been a huge mistake. And I don't think he could have done it anyway -- the house has already said they wouldn't vote in favor of the senate bill... and the senate couldn't stomach the house bill. I don't think there was actually any possibility of finishing by the SOTU address... and now he doesn't need to. The big mistake that was made was in Mass by the Democratic candidate and her advisors... that's where the true tragedy took place.
