According to your article ("Recycling by the Numbers," August 18), there seems to be no worthwhile market for # 3 through # 7 plastics.
Thanks to ColorBrightonGreen.org, it seems there is. They have been collecting all types of plastics, as well as almost anything that can be ground up and reused, at their current site on the Brighton High School parking lot.
Robin Weintraub is notable in collecting # 5 plastics and getting me started on collecting 3-7 plastics through my church in Irondequoit. Thus far, we and a sister church are collecting 75 to 100 pounds of various plastics every week. These are taken to the local recycling center indicated in your article, and sold to larger sites in Buffalo and Syracuse.
While we make no money from this endeavor, we take pride in knowing we are doing a small part in extending the lives of landfills in our area.
Anyone interested in starting their own program can e-mail ColorBrightonGreen.org or join ours by contacting this writer at GoingGreenDelegation@yahoo.com.

I live in Steuben County and we have been trying to find someone to take #3 thru #7 plastic. Are you aware of any closer than California? I will forward your information locally and to Corning (my city). Thank you!
