MCC PRESIDENCY: Van Dusen's leaving is a loss for MCC

The MCC faculty and staff, students, Assemblywoman Susan John, and the Democrat and Chronicleeditorial page have urged the MCC Board of Trustees to "Do the Right Thing" and resign. However, it is both distressing and ironic that Lori Van Dusen is the board member who has resigned.

As chair of the board (before she was mysteriously and suddenly replaced in February), Ms.Van Dusen had provided the college with dedicated and loyal leadership, always valuing the work and input of the faculty and staff and treating the college community with respect. This sense of trust and collaboration seemed to change radically as soon as she was removed from her position in February. Still, she continued to serve on the board with courage, commitment, and dedication to the college throughout the search process.

Isn't it ironic and sad that we have lost this board member, one who has clearly served all of us with no hidden agenda?
