REN SQUARE: Who will control spending for the project?

on June 10, 2008

After he retires later this summer, will MCC President R. Thomas Flynn remain a member of the board of the organization that will plan the development of Renaissance Square?

If he does not, could this explain the interest that the local Republican Party has in selecting the next president of MCC?

Other than Mr. Flynn, the board consists of two Republicans (Maggie Brooks and Mark Aesch), and one Democrat (Bob Duffy). If someone not owing allegiance to Team Minarik is selected to run MCC, a huge pot of gold may actually be spent based on need, not political cronyism.

This could explain why the local Republican delegation (Reynolds, Kuhl, and Walsh) wrote to Louise Slaughter asking her continued support.
