It's finally spring, and going out at night sounds better and better as the sun stays up and jackets come off. Check out some of the stuff happening around town to ring in the warmer weather.
-Kick off the season at The Pelican's Nest (566 River St, 663-5910), one of Charlotte's waterfront hot spots, when it celebrates its grand re-opening this Friday, April 18. The bar and restaurant will have free live entertainment, and drink and food specials all weekend long.
-On Saturday, April 19, bust out the platform shoes and shades for the 5th annual Ugly Disco party at the Riverside Convention Center (123 E Main St). Club update
It's been open since March 6, but in case you missed it, Daisy Dukes - that East End pseudo-country joint - has opened a second location in Webster. Daisy Dukes 2 has all the feel of the original location, without the craziness of the East End scene. Consider it one more place where you can squeeze a little bull-riding into your night out. Daisy Dukes 2 is located at 2235 Empire Blvd, in the building that used to house Millennium. Check out our nightlife photog's pics from last week to get a feel for the place, or call the bar at 671-5359 with questions.
In other nightclub news, Pulse (1509 Scottsville Rd) is under new ownership and has been re-vamped and re-named as Rendezvous Nite Club. Same goes for Stooge's (511 E Ridge Rd), which is now the new Pub 511.
